A porter daydreams while watching his surveillance monitor. Everything seems fine—that is, until a European artist’s paintings of historic scenes appear and the nightmares of the past are unleashed.
In the 19th century, a European artist travels through Brazil, recording his impressions in letters and drawings. Two hundred years later, a porter daydreams while watching his surveillance monitor. Everything seems completely fine—that is, until the European artist’s paintings appear and all the nightmares of the past are unleashed. The turbulent past and complicated present of Brazil intersect in this multi-layered film, mirroring each other through two different but interconnected stories of control.
The experimental documentary works of CINÉMA COPAINS (Arne Hector & Minze Tummescheit) reflect on social and economic issues. The works of PÁTIO VAZIO ( Luciana Mazeto & Vinícius Lopes) in the form of short and feature films focus primarily on historical and social research, mixing fictional narratives and documentary essays. Pátio Vazio and cinéma copains first met in 2015 and have offered mutual support on various art and film projects since then.
